September 11: How did the World Trade Center attacks change the lives of Jupiter and Nancy? ? 1

Jupiter Yambam took a morning shift on September 11 at a restaurant in the World Trade Center. His goal was to spend more time with his son Santi

Due to the night shift at the Windows on the World restaurant on the roof of the North Tower, a large building in New York City, he had little time to spend with his family. He wanted to play football with Santi, teach him how to ride a bike and do other similar things that a father does for his son.

This Tuesday Jupiter woke up, bathed, changed new clothes, kissed his wife Nancy and left for his duty. One autumn morning was dawning.

Jupiter came from the northeastern Indian state of Manipur in 1981 to attend a summer camp for blind children in Vermont, USA. During his stay in the United States, he progressed to the position of manager of a very important restaurant.

The 110-storey twin building remained his place of employment for five years. The 16-acre complex employed about 50,000 people, while thousands flocked to their businesses, shopping and dining at the Windows on the World restaurant.

On September 11, Jupiter was to organize a technology conference, which was being hosted by his own restaurant.

At home, Nancy was busy.

It was Santi's second week in kindergarten and Nancy was following her school bus because the bus was late every day and she wanted to tell the school principal when the bus would arrive at school. Then when they arrived at their office, which was a residential house in Orangeburg, 64 km away, where people with mental disabilities and drug problems lived.

When she arrived at work, she was told that a plane had crashed into the World Trade Center.

Everyone was watching TV. Nancy told me from her New York home that she had never seen a plane crash into a building. At 8:46 a.m. local time, American Airlines Flight 11 hit the 93rd to 99th floor of the North Tower, leaving everyone stranded on the upper floors.

When people got stuck there, the Windows on the World restaurant was engulfed in black smoke. The assistant manager of the restaurant called the authorities for instructions and asked them to do something for our guests and employees as soon as possible.

An employee told another in a teleconference that there was a loud explosion in the building which shattered all the windows and the roof fell down, everyone fell down but everyone is fine and now everyone will be evacuated.

But not a single person was able to get out.

Jupiter married Nancy in 1991 in the Indian state of Manipur

A chef who was due to arrive at work at 8.30am stopped at a shop under the tower to buy new spectacles and escaped. It took several days to count the exact number of people killed in the attack. This morning, 72 people were killed in Windows on the World.

Nancy says she saw the twin towers collapse, leaving her in a state of shock and dismay. According to her, she was calling her husband repeatedly but he did not pick up the phone.

Rescuers quickly removed Jupiter's body from the rubble. His family members gave him DNA samples from his comb and he was identified by the end of the week.

According to Nancy, we were very lucky. We performed Jupiter's last rites and collected his ashes. But, according to Nancy, many people were not so lucky. Even 20 years after the incident, about 1,600 of the 2,754 victims have been identified.

Jupiter died at the age of 42 and Nancy was 40 at the time. They have known each other for the past 20 years.

When the two met in 1981, Jupiter was studying economics and Nancy was studying music therapy. Jupiter used to come to a hotel to meet Nancy, where Nancy also worked. Their love began with a slice of carat cake that they shared with each other. When they got married in 1991, they ordered a carat cake.

Jupiter's older brother, Yambam Laba, said Jupiter was raised in the northeastern Indian state of Manipur. His father was a doctor while his mother worked in a bank. In five brothers Jupiter was the youngest

Nancy found Jupiter a best friend. A man in women's dreams. Jupiter was a great athlete and he also set a record in long jumping at his school in India. He loved music.

At Windows on the World Jupiter was proud of his job  When he came home, he was very happy about the celebrities he had met for dinner. They include former President Bill Clinton, broadcaster Barbara Walters and former American figure skater Christy Yamaguchi.

But it all ended on a beautiful Tuesday evening. And then a sad story began. According to Nancy, she could not sleep in the first year. I was moaning for sleep every night.

According to Nancy, I wonder how it all happened. How can people hate us so much? I started reading, I started learning. I forgave these terrorists from the bottom of my heart. I convinced myself that there was no way I could live with hatred. Now i need to find a new partner.

About a year and a half later, Nancy became involved with Jeremy Feldman, a civil engineer. He married her in 2006. Nancy says only love can save you in the end.

Nancy says there hasn't been a day that she hasn't thought of Jupiter. According to him, a small shrine has also been built in his memory in the house

Nancy donated to Jupiter all the things she got from Windows on the World to the 9/11 Museum. The items include Jupiter's business card, two bottles of wine from a special event and a wooden box for wine.

Nancy's family goes to Jupiter's house in India a few years later. Santi, now 25 and working in a restaurant in Bacon, has learned to play a traditional Manipur drum ping. Nancy says that Manipur is our second home through Jupiter. According to him, sticking to one's true identity is very important.

They would be celebrating their 30th wedding anniversary this OctoberIf Jupiter was alive, . Nancy says trauma is also a strange thing. Forgetting is not an option. But it can be difficult to relive 9/11 every year.

Pain is like a knife that is very sharp and intense in the beginning according to Nancy,. But then over time the knife becomes blunt and the pain subsides
