Why did a real mother kidnap a one month old baby girl in Lahore? ? 1
Police also questioned the mother of the abducted girl over the discrepancy in the statements
Police in Lahore, the capital of Pakistan's Punjab province, have arrested the mother of a one-month-old girl in a kidnapping case.
Police registered a case at the Millat Park police station at the request of a citizen named Khalid in which he stated that his one-month-old daughter had been abducted.
SP Iqbal Town Raza Tanveer told Urdu News that "the police immediately registered a case and started investigation."
According to him, "After the discrepancies in the statements of the girl's mother came to light, the investigating officers became suspicious of her and included her in the interrogation."
"A few hours later, the girl's mother revealed to the police that she had abducted her daughter herself," he said.
"I was saddened by the birth of my third daughter and feared that my husband and in-laws would abuse me after the birth of their third daughter," she told police. That is why he kidnapped his daughter at the hands of a friend named Kulsoom
According to police, "Kulsoom was arrested after the statement of a woman named Amna and the girl was recovered."
SP Iqbal Town said that at present both the accused women are in the custody of the police and after the completion of the investigation, the court has issued orders to transfer them to jail.
The woman said that after the birth of her third daughter, she was afraid that the attitude of her husband and in-laws would worsen.
In her statement to the investigation team at Millat Park police station, Amna said, "I had a strong desire to have a son. I already have two daughters, which is why my in-laws were not treating me well."
"My family members said that it is difficult to live in your house without a son. However, when the daughter was born, I did not know what to do. After that, I consulted a friend of mine. I will give my daughter to a childless couple and that is why I told my husband under a plan that I was washing clothes in the washroom. When I came back to the room 15 minutes later, the girl was missing.
After confessing to the crime, a woman named Amna Khan was arrested by the police.
Police say the FIR contains kidnapping provisions so all legal requirements are being met. The plaintiff and the girl's father, Khalid, declined to comment.
"This is more of a tragedy than a case," said Muhammad Shamim, a criminal case expert and former secretary of the Supreme Court Bar Association.
"A one-month-old baby who is in dire need of a mother is away from her because she is in jail," he said. The mother apparently removed the girl from herself as a result of social pressure. This case will also be a big challenge for the court.
